Low Water End, Coniston

Spark Bridge is easily accessed by road, rail and bus.  Situated on the Lake District Peninsular the village provides the ideal location to explore all areas of the region as well as enjoying proximity to Morecambe Bay Estuary and the Cumbrian Coast.   The village itself boasts two Public Houses - the Royal Oak (approx 25m) and the Farmers Arms (approx 200m) - both of which serve light lunches and hearty evening meals.  Booking is highly recommended!  Both welcome families and dogs and offer beer garden facilities.  Nearby Greenodd village, 2 miles away, has a small bakery, newsagent and Fish & Chip shop.

The nearby historic town of Ulverston, the starting point for the northbound Cumbria Way, offers a range of services; supermarket, leisure centre, shops and markets, pubs, restaurants and takeaways.   Further afield the towns of Kendal and Barrow In Furness provide further shopping facilities.

If arriving from the M6 motorway, exit at J36, signposted for A590 (Kendal & Southern Lakes). Take the first exit to the roundabout and take first exit again signposted A590 heading for Newby Bridge and Bowness. At the Newby Bridge Roundabout take the first exit heading towards Ulverston and Barrow in Furness. At the next roundabout take the second exit right heading on the A5092 through the villages of Greenodd and Penny Bridge. Take a right turn at The Farmers Arms pub signposted for Spark Bridge. The Row is at the bottom of the hill on your lefthand side before the Royal Oak pub.

Parking is available on the kerb in front of the cottage. If your vehicle is large (e.g. 4x4) please park as close to the cottage as possible to allow farm vehicles and delivery vans to access the small lane adjacent to the cottage. Alternatively, by arrangement, you may park in the Royal Oak carpark which is approximately 25m from the cottage.


The nearest Railway Station can be found in the local town of Ulverston, approximately four miles away from the Cottage.  The line is operated by Northern Rail Services.  Click here to access their Website for the latest timetable.   Other stations can be found a short drive away at Grange over Sands, Dalton in Furness, Oxenholme Lake District.

Taxi services are available at all Stations.


There are five local bus routes that make regular stops in or near Spark Bridge operated by Blueworks.  These generally operate between Ulverston and Coniston.  An up to date timetable can be found on the Blueworks website here.
